A COMMUNITY IN NEED:
MINUYONGAN VILLAGE
Located in the isolated foothills of central Mindanao region of the Phillipines, Minuyongan Village lies at the heart of a tribal community in great need. The village and surrounding areas support a population of 18,000 approx. people. Rough-hewn huts line a rocky dirt road, made impassable by monsoonal rains. For years there has been no clean water supplies, no employment opportunities, no health or dental care, and limited education opportunities.
Noble Endeavours is now partnering with the local community to help meet the pressing humanitarian needs of the area and to help build sustainable opportunities for the future. Headed by Australians Ian and Jan McKay – who have been travelling into the Philippines since the 1990s and have now developed a network of support among local authorities – Noble Endeavours is aiming to empower this tribal population who for years have been among the Philippines' "poorest of the poor".
